Overview
St John Fisher High School in Wigan underwent a massive renovation in order to make its facilities, classrooms and dining halls more accessible to disabled students.
Although the revamp has not meant that the school were able to accept a bigger cohort of pupils every September when the new academic year rolled around, it has meant they are now able to accept more disabled students.
The secondary school didn’t have any disabled access, but the redevelopment has seen the construction of a three-storey teaching block which can cater to disabled pupils.
The revamp also included the demolition of the existing school buildings, a new sports block, new sports courts, a four-storey temporary teaching block and a whole new reconfiguration of the car park and its access.
