Since Joining Murraywood Construction in November 2017, I have, with the guidance and mentorship of Murraywood Colleagues and others, completed the Civil Engineering HNC at LJMU. Following completion of this I am progressing to the BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship, also at LJMU.
Undertaking the HNC has given me an understanding of Civil Engineering that I would not normally come across within my job role, stretching me academically and confirmed my move into this discipline, for me, was the right choice.
Murraywood have been encouraging in my studies, I have had good mentoring for my HNC and this will continue into my Degree, I am working on projects that are challenging and give me an education I cannot get in a classroom, from the groundworkers and their collective centuries worth of experience to established engineers to working with Main Contractors and their trainee / qualified engineers.
I am about to embark on a new three year programme at LJMU and feel confident that the help and support I received during my HNC will continue through my Degree, it is an exciting time for me, working in an industry that is constantly changing and challenging.
